Catherine Barr - 50 reasons to love.jpg

Age guideline 4-7, 7-11

About the event

In this uplifting workshop for children between the ages of 5 and 7, brought to you by Bradford Literature Festival, join author Catherine Barr to explore Reasons to Love Where You Live.

What are the reasons children love where they live? Is it the community around them? The places they play? The natural world they explore?

Once they have decided what they love most, children will be guided by Catherine through the process of making a wonderful collage of ideas. They will create illustrations and text which celebrate the place they live, and the finished works can then be shared with other Reading is Magic Festival attendees online. We can’t wait to see what children all over the world  love about where they live!

About the Author

Catherine Barr’s first book was The Story of Life, a picture book about evolution she wrote inspired by her two (then primary aged) daughters. Since then Catherine has gone on to write the popular The Story of … series, with co-author and science teacher Steve Williams, and the magical 10 Reasons to Love a…. series, which offers children a fantastic introduction to both environmental issues and the wonders of the natural world. Catherine lives close to the Welsh hills where she writes books which she hopes will encourage children to get involved in protecting the natural world. Catherine has two teenage children, a dog called Boo and loves to cycle in places with beautiful views… just not in those hills!
