About the Event

The Whisperer’s Warning by winner of the Bocas Lit Fest 2022 Children’s Book Prize Danielle Y.C. McClean is the second book in The Secrets of Oscuros series. The story is set in a fictitious village in the Caribbean. It continues the adventures of 12 year old JV and his friends Carol and Riaz as they encounter various folkloric characters in the ominous Oscuros Forest. Following a cryptic warning by one of the forest’s supernatural inhabitants, they embark on a high-stakes mission to solve the mystery of the forest and JV’s heritage, while protecting the life of a villager from a foretold doom. About the Festival Partner

Founded in 2011, the NGC Bocas Lit Fest is Trinidad and Tobago’s premier annual literary festival: a lively celebration of books, writers, writing, and ideas, with a Caribbean focus and international scope. The Festival brings together readers and writers from Trinidad and Tobago, the Caribbean, and the wider world for readings, performances, workshops, discussions, film screenings, and more.

The Festival also includes a full programme of activities for younger readers, The NGC Children’s Bocas Lit Fest. There is a month-long storytelling caravan around the country on Saturdays throughout the month of April, plus readings, creative writing workshops and performances by children’s authors, alongside the main Festival. Most of the events are virtual and you can access archived events on their website. bocaslitfest.com
