About the event

Join Jenny Pearson to hear some mind-fizzing facts and get the intel on having fun with a record-breaking attempt of your own. Jenny loves a fascinating fact and a wondrous world record. So much so that both her books - The Super Miraculous Journey of Freddie Yates and The Incredible Record Smashers are packed with them - to the point where she almost did not write the funny story bit because she was so busy researching!

In Jenny’s latest book, Lucy is a fixer of broken things but she can’t fix her unhappy mum. Until she comes up with an incredible plan to enter the TV talent show Record Smashers with best friend Sandesh. Not content with smashing world records in her writing, Jenny, who is also a primary school teacher, set a Guinness World Record earlier this year alongside the children at her school!

About the Author

Originally from Salisbury, but now based in Durham, Jenny Pearson is a mum-of-two and a primary school teacher, every bit as funny in real life as she is on the page. Her 2020 Costa-shortlisted and Waterstones Children’s Book of the Month debut, The Super Miraculous Journey of Freddie Yates, was bought in an eight-way publisher auction and established her as a talented new voice in ‘heart and humour’ middle grade fiction. It has also been selected as a 2021 Read for Empathy title as part of EmpathyLab’s annual contemporary collection of empathy-boosting books for young people.
