They say that love makes the world go round. It can make our hearts sing, but it can sometimes be confusing and sad. What does love really mean? Meet three incredible authors who each write about love beautifully in their relatable and page-turning YA books, and hear first-hand what love means to them.
Holly Bourne’s The Year Book is a painfully true high-school take down story and draws inspiration from Holly’s own experiences of teenage relationships and everyday sexism. William Sutcliffe takes a comical look at the love that bonds - or not - a family in The Summer We Turned Green, while Tanya Byrne’s Afterlove is an own voices queer love story with an otherworldly twist.

About the Authors
Holly Bourne is the author of bestselling novel Am I Normal Yet? and several other critically acclaimed books. Inspired by her work with young people, and her own experiences of everyday sexism, Holly is a passionate mental health advocate and a proud feminist.
William Sutcliffe is the author of 12 novels, including the international bestseller Are You Experienced? and The Wall, which was shortlisted for the Carnegie Medal. He has written for adults, young adults and children, and has been translated into twenty-eight languages. His 2008 novel Whatever Makes You Happy is now a Netflix Original film starring Patricia Arquette, Felicity Huffman and Angela Bassett. It was released in August 2019 under the title Otherhood.
His latest novel, The Gifted, The Talented and Me, was described by The Times as 'dangerously funny' and by the Guardian as 'refreshingly hilarious'.
Tanya Byrne is an award-winning author and freelance journalist who lives in Brighton. She has written three young adult novels, the first of which earned her a nomination for New Writer of the Year at the National Book Awards. She has also written for The Guardian and The Pool.
